Cervical Cancer

Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer is a significant health concern, but with proper screening, early detection, and comprehensive treatment, it is often preventable and manageable. At Brundavan Nursing Home, we offer a range of services aimed at cervical cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

  • Screening and Prevention: Regular cervical cancer screening is crucial for early detection and prevention. We provide comprehensive screening services, including Pap smears and HPV (human papillomavirus) testing, to identify any abnormal changes in the cervix that may indicate precancerous or cancerous conditions. Additionally, we offer counseling and vaccination against HPV, which is a major risk factor for cervical cancer.

  • Diagnostic Evaluation: In cases where abnormal results are detected during screening or when symptoms suggestive of cervical cancer are present, we conduct further diagnostic evaluations to confirm the diagnosis. This may involve colposcopy, biopsy, imaging tests (such as ultrasound or MRI), and other specialized procedures to assess the extent of the disease.

  • Multidisciplinary Treatment: Our approach to cervical cancer treatment is multidisciplinary, involving collaboration among various specialists to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs. Treatment options may include:

    • Surgery: Depending on the stage and extent of the cancer, surgical procedures such as conization (removal of a cone-shaped piece of tissue from the cervix), hysterectomy (removal of the uterus), or lymph node dissection may be recommended.

    • Radiation Therapy: Radiation therapy may be used alone or in combination with other treatments to target and destroy cancer cells. External beam radiation, brachytherapy (internal radiation), or a combination of both may be employed.

    • Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy drugs may be prescribed to shrink tumors, destroy cancer cells, or make radiation therapy more effective. Chemotherapy may be administered orally, intravenously, or directly into the pelvic cavity (intraperitoneal chemotherapy).

    • Targeted Therapy: In some cases, targeted therapy drugs may be used to specifically target cancer cells while minimizing damage to healthy tissues. These drugs may be used alone or in combination with other treatments.

  • Supportive Care: We understand that a cervical cancer diagnosis can be emotionally and physically challenging. That’s why we provide comprehensive supportive care services to address the holistic needs of our patients. This may include pain management, nutritional support, counseling, and access to support groups and resources to help patients and their families cope with the challenges of cancer treatment.

  • Follow-up and Survivorship Care: Following treatment, we provide regular follow-up care to monitor for any signs of recurrence or complications and to support patients in their recovery and survivorship journey. We emphasize the importance of ongoing surveillance, health maintenance, and lifestyle modifications to optimize long-term outcomes and quality of life.

At Brundavan Nursing Home, we are committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for women with cervical cancer. Our multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals is dedicated to delivering personalized treatment and support to help patients navigate their cancer journey with dignity, resilience, and hope.
